The most crucial electronic feature is its Class A High Impedance and Unit Gain Preamp Buffer.
Signal Integrity: The Class A design ensures the highest possible linearity,
which translates into legendary “transparency.”
The high input impedance ensures that the guitar pickups “see” the ideal load,
allowing the instrument to perform at its tonal best, even with multiple pedals
in the chain.
Low Output Impedance: This is vital for handling long cable runs
(common on large pedalboards of professional musicians) without loss of high frequencies
or signal degradation (capacitive loading).
RFI Rejection: The buffer is designed to reject Radio Frequency Interference (RFI),
a constant problem in the live environment.
The Overdrive Sustainer 2 (OS-2) circuit is designed to emulate the natural saturation of a high-quality vintage tube amplifier, but at any volume.
Gain and Dynamics: Offers a range of saturation from a clean boost with gentle compression
to rhythmic crunch and blues/rock lead with great sustain. It is incredibly sensitive to pick dynamics and guitar volume control, allowing the musician to modulate the distortion without touching the pedal.
Bottom End Retention: Unlike many overdrives that can thin out the signal, the OS-2 maintains the solidity and definition of the low frequencies. This is crucial for guitarists who play with low tunings or who need their sound to retain “body” in a dense mix.
